Become a vital part of Alaska's food and farm security with the Division of Agriculture. We enhance the state’s natural resource industries through diverse programs, including land sales, market support, inspections, agriculture loans and grants, seed production, certification, and more. Our efforts drive economic diversification, strengthen food security, and boost agricultural production for local, regional, and international markets.
As a part of our team, you’ll help transform state land into productive farms, contributing to a growing agricultural sector, connect Alaskan businesses with global markets, enhance local branding, and ensure top-quality products. Alternatively, you could manage grants that support local agricultural initiatives, including Specialty Crop Grants and Micro Grants for Food Security, and work on cutting-edge seed production, innovative environmental reclamation, and tackle invasive species challenges to protect and preserve Alaska’s unique ecosystems.

Leadership
Division of Agriculture - Program Sections
The Agricultural Land Program drives food security and economic growth by selling state land for agriculture, ensuring future access to productive land. This generates local revenue and supports over 1,000 Alaskan farms. We select suitable lands, create parcel outlines, and handle sales. Afterward, we assist buyers with conservation plans and ensure compliance to maintain land productivity.
The Plant Materials Center (PMC) is Alaska's agricultural hub, specializing in the production of high-quality foundation seeds for grass, grain, and potatoes, and developing native plants for commercial use and revegetation. As the state's only facility of its kind, the PMC supports agriculture by providing essential, virus-free seed stock. Our programs ensure the success of "Alaska Grown" products, benefiting producers, nurseries, and home gardeners statewide.
The Administration and Support Services section is the backbone driving innovation and growth across the division. We support leadership in shaping policies that guide agricultural and conservation efforts statewide. From managing financial grants to ensuring smooth HR and procurement operations, our team plays a vital role in advancing initiatives that positively impact communities and the environment.
