Alaska Department of Natural Resources

Transforming Alaska's Future -- Today!

Imagine being part of a team that not only shapes the future of Alaska’s vast and breathtaking landscapes for generations to come. At the Department of Natural Resources (DNR), you'll be at the forefront of managing and protecting over 104 million acres of state-owned land, water, and natural resources, excluding fish and game. With 100 million acres already conveyed, our work is far from over, and you could be instrumental in guiding the sustainable use and development of these invaluable assets.

The DNR's responsibilities are as diverse as the landscapes we oversee. We manage 60 million acres of tidelands, shorelands, and submerged lands, as well as 40,000 miles of stunning coastline, ensuring that these vital areas are utilized in a way that benefits all Alaskans. But that's just the beginning. The state also owns the freshwater resources of Alaska, a critical resource that accounts for about 40% of the entire nation's fresh water flow. Our work in managing these waters is crucial to maintaining the health of our ecosystems and the well-being of our communities.

In addition to land and water management, the DNR is actively involved in the responsible development of Alaska’s rich mineral resources, fostering sustainable forestry practices, and ensuring that our energy resources are developed in a way that balances economic growth with environmental stewardship. We work closely with local communities, industry stakeholders, and other government agencies to create policies and implement programs that promote the wise use of our natural resources while preserving the beauty and integrity of Alaska’s environment.

Join us, and you’ll be part of a dynamic team that is passionate about making a difference. Whether you’re involved in land management, water resources, forestry, minerals, or energy, your work will have a lasting impact on Alaska’s future. Be a part of the legacy of the Last Frontier and help us ensure that Alaska remains a place of unparalleled natural beauty and opportunity.
